Enhanced Quotas

Quotas is a mechanism for controlling cloud spend in Coder. In November, we've enhanced our quotas system:

  • Groups can have different quota allowances (e.g. data scientists have 50 credits)
  • Templates can have an associated cost, which can be a static value (e.g. 20 credits) or calculated from workspace parameters (e.g. "instance type").

See our quotas documentation for more information. This is an enterprise feature.

Windows installers

We've added the following install methods to simplify installation for Windows:

Performance & scale testing

In November, we began work on performance-related features to ensure Coder can support deployments up to 3,000 users.

  • Consistent pagination across workspaces, users, and audit pages
  • Performance fixes to support 1,000 concurrent workspace builds, 10,000 active SSH connections to workspaces, and 1,000 web terminal connections.

Stay tuned for more updates around scale testing in December and January!

Prometheus metrics

In November, we added documentation on using Prometheus with Coder as well as a number of metrics around measuring Coder's usage & performance.

Template version browser

You can now preview Terraform and Markdown files within a template version from the Coder dashboard!

Additionally, users can now use any template version with their workspaces. This can be helpful if the latest version is broken or if a user needs to use old features.

Rolling back a workspace's template version

Additionally, users can now use any template version with their workspaces. This can be helpful if the latest version is broken or if a user needs to use old features.

Port forwarding in code-server

If you are using code-server inside Coder, ports are automatically forwarded to Coder when you start a server.

Until next time ✌️

Install Coder, upgrade or follow along on GitHub.
